Why me?

Why me?

It's so hard finding you are facing a serious illness or major operation. Your whole world stops.
It feels like nothing can ever be the same again.

And it's not just hard for you, yourself. You worry about those you love too. How will they cope? How can you find a way through this, together? Is there any hope left?

While it seems hard to accept,
God both understands your feelings and knows your questions.

Honest feelings

It's natural to feel:

HOPELESS My worst fears have all come true. I have no peace or
rest - only troubles and worries. Job 3:25-26

ANGRY I will not stay quiet; I will speak out in the suffering of
my spirit. I will complain because I am so unhappy. Job 7:11

ISOLATED Months that are empty, and nights of misery have been
given to me. When I lie down, I think, 'How long until I
get up?' The night is long, and I toss until dawn. Job 7:3-4

The Bible doesn't cover up the problem of suffering. It shows us real people and real suffering.

It also shows us a God who knows, understands, cares, and forgives.

His message to you is one of love, hope, and life.

God knows

You have looked deep int my heart, LORD, and you know all about me. You know when I am resting or when I am working, from heaven you discover my thoughs. Psalm 139:1-2

You notice everything I do and everywhere I go. Psalm 139:3

God understands

I love the LORD, for He heard my voice; He heard my cry for mercy. Psalm 116:1

I was overcome by trouble and sorrow. The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. Psalm 116:3,5

God cares

God cares for you,

so turn all your worries over to Him 1 Peter 5:7

God forgives

If we confess our sins to God,

He can always be trusted to forgive us and take our sins away. 1 John 1:9

Jesus can change your fear of death

You can love this God who sees, understands, cares, and forgives. You matter so much to him.

Jesus, God's Son, said: "If anyone loves me, they will obey me. Then My Father will love them, and We will come to them and live in them." John 14:23

When we love God we know that death is not the end of life.

We are people of flesh and blood. That is why Jesus bacame one of us. He died to destroy the devil, who had power over death. But he also died to rescue all of us who live each day in fear of dying. Hebrew 2:14-15

God is so good, and by raising Jesus from death, he has given us new life and a hope that lives on. God has something stored up for you in heaven, where it will never decay or be ruined or disappear. 1 Peter 1:3-4

God can give you a new body

God gives anyone who loves him a new body in heaven after death. A body free from all sickness, pain, and death.

These bodies will die, but the bodies that are raised will live forever. These ugly and weak bodies will become beautiful and strong.
1 Chorinthians 15:42-43

God will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever. Then the One sitting on the throne said: I am making everything new. Revelation 21:4-5

Living now

There are no easy answers to the problem of suffering. But you can experience God's closeness, and know his love and forgiveness.

God has said," I will never leave you; I will never forget you." Hebrews 13:5

I may walk through valleys as dark as death, but I won't be afraid. You are with me. Psalm 23:4

God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace while you trust in Him. Romans 15:13

Why not talk to God now?

You can use this prayer or your own words. He is listening.

Thank you for showing me that you love me.
Now I want to love and know you.
Please forgive me. I'll do what You tell me.
Please come to me, speak to me, help me, confort me.

If you want to know more, talk to someone who knows Jesus. In the Bible you can read more of God's love and acceptance, and the hope he offers.
Why not start with the book called Mark?
